That will change your Opus Editor/Workspace settings, removing any customizations you've made for toolbars, preferences, etc. The good news is that the RESET does solve certain kinds of problems/glitches.

I have learned from other Posters here... to save a backup of my DW/Opus/Illuminatus registry keys as soon as I have configured my workspace and options the way I want. That way, I can do the above reset to factory settings... test the App for whatever problem I had... and then at some time go back and restore those "customized" settings.

Cheers.

Hi Mike,

The information about resetting is here:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3711&hilit=reset

On a side note, as the DVD is about video, can you recommend a decent DVD-Video creator - preferable Open Source or Freeware. I've got an application that creates the files on the hard drive, but nothing to create an ISO or burn directly to disc. My version of Nero is old and does not like W7x64.

Mack

P.S Seems Lar beat me to the punch :-)

Mack,
I've used Image Burn and it seems reliable on Vista32. Has a pretty good selection of set-up options. I do not use it much, can't say how it is for DVD/Video use.

Cheers Lar,

On my stumbling around the net, I've discovered CDBurnerXP. I'm actually pinching myself, as it seems to good to be free. It seems to do everything a commercial program should without all the rubbish. I was going upgrade my ISO program but this looks like it'll do just fine. Even supports lightscribe. Plus works under W7x64.

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I would first recommend initialising the Opus registry settings to eliminate the possibility of a corruption in the registry settings. To do this:

- Ensure that Opus is not running

- Click Start > All Programs > Illuminatus Opus to open the program group

- Position the cursor over the Illuminatus Opus application shortcut (but do not click)

- Position two fingers over the Ctrl and Alt keys in the bottom-left of the keyboard

- Left-click on the application shortcut to launch the program, then immediately depress the Ctrl and Alt keys simultaneously and keep them depressed

- A prompt should appear on-screen asking if you wish to clear the application registry settings. Click Yes

- Now check to see if you are able to open the File > Open dialog

etc............................ deleted

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

Kind regards,

Sorry for the delay getting back here - I much appreciate all the tips and help.

I will try the ALT+CTRL trick - on all the 'non-working-Opus' machines, soon as I get a chance (so busy at the moment :( )

In the meantime, in trying to sort an entirely different problem, I was checking the Norton 'log' ... and saw to my horror that it had been calling my Opus exe publication a 'High Risk - and had quarantined it - all the attempts to publish! I restored one of them, told Norton to P.. off, and it ran.

It seems Norton (360) is doing far more harm than good on my machine(s) at the moment. This latest version has slowed everything up considerably - seems to be a common problem requiring a Norton uninstall and re-install according to their website. Last time i did that though I virtually closed down my machine completely - so not something I'm happy doing yet again. Time to ditch it for something different I think. How's McAfee these days?....

Purchased a new notebook recently, had Norton's 360 on it. Tolerated the invasive nature for a few days then removed it.
Replaced it with AVG Internet Security 9.0.
If you want a free solution the COMODO AV, Firewall combo is quite good.
http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/free-download.html

IMHO McAfee is just as invasive as Nortons, as are any of the ones bundled with new PC's.
Unfortunately, in order to rank well on the virus league tables, AV's use more aggressive Heuristics techniques.
Then the AV will take an "Intelligent" guess at what is in files, using the standard "it might be a virus, so we better be safe and call it one." This gets a high detection rate that looks good in advertising, and a correspondingly high false positive rate.
File compression trips a lot of AV false positives, especially those files compressed with free or certain builds of cracked file packers.

To be fair, the virus/trojan writers have been working to improve their products as well, forcing AV's to become more aggressive...
