I'm suddenly having problems opening Opus Pro 4 XE (v4.5)

It has been OK with the new Service Release until now, when It refuses to open and I get the usual Microsoft message informing it's going to close the programme.

I've tried the Ctrl/Alt technique, but it made no difference.

I completely uninstalled XE, and reinstalled from my CD - Opus worked OK. I then re-installed the service release, and I'm getting the same problem -- can't open it.

Is this a common problem, or can anyone give advice to resolve it, please?

The Event Viewer shows the attached as a problem each time.

We have received no other reports of this issue. Could you please try initialising the Opus registry settings using the following steps and let me know if the problem persists?

- Ensure that Opus Pro 04 XE is not running

- Click Start > All Programs > Opus Pro 04 XE to open the program group

- Position the cursor over the Opus Pro 04 XE application shortcut (but do not click)

- Position two fingers over the Ctrl and Alt keys in the bottom-left of the keyboard

- Left-click on the application shortcut to launch the program, then immediately depress the Ctrl and Alt keys simultaneously and keep them depressed

- A prompt should appear on-screen asking if you wish to clear the application registry settings. Click Yes

- Opus Pro 04 XE will now launch, but behave like a new installation (displaying the Tip of the Day and Registration screens, which you can close)

Regards

Thanks Brenden - as I explained in my post, I'd already tried the Ctrl/Alt technique.

But I think I've identified the culprit.

I use dual monitors from a Matrox Parhelia 256 graphics card. The Matrox Power Desk allows you to configure how dual monitors are set up.

One of the options available is "automatically save/restore window positions". I tend to open some programmes in monitor 2 (including Opus), but Opus is the only application which doesn't seem to like this arrangement

New Matrox drivers were available from January, and I have them installed.

For the information of other users with a similar set-up....

Sorry Chris I missed the CTRL/ALT part.

Are you saying the new drivers fixed the problem or that running it in window 1 fixed the problem

Regards

Brenden

No, the new drivers appear to be problematical.

As I've had them a little longer than the latest Opus patch, I don't know if the previous drivers were a problem or not.

I'll just use Opus in monitor 1 - it's not really an issue.

Oddly, Opus 2.81 runs without a hitch in either!!
