I seem to have trouble drawing level lines with the line drawing tool.

In most other drawing programmes, holding down the Shift key instantly constrains lines (or other objects) to horizontal, vertical, or 45 degree placements.

This, despite advice to the contrary in the Help file, doesn't appear to work in Opus - you have to fiddle to get the line exactly horizontal.

(Quote from Help:)

"If you hold down the Shift key when using this tool your drawing will be snapped to the grid for that page if the grid is not turned on. This is particularly useful for ensuring that straight lines are level.
Click with the right mouse button to stop drawing the line."

I would have thought that the grid would need to have been turned on for any snapping to work - is that not the case?

Either way, I can't draw a level line quickly using Shift, anyway.

Am I missing something? Or could this feature be included (or fixed) in the next build?

This is how my Opus works (Pro 4.50)

If you hold down the CONTROL Key and start drawing with the straight line tool you get lines that only go horizontally and vertically. It doesn't matter if the grid is on or off.

If you turn on the grid the line will snap exactly to the grid dots. If the grid is on but you hold the SHIFT key nothing will snap and you can draw lines in any direction you want.

With grid off and SHIFT pressed the line snaps but I'm not sure if it really snaps to the gid dots since they cannot be seen.

Hope this helps :D

Aha! So that's the secret - it's the Control rather than the Shift key. I take it all back.

Thanks, Klaus
