Post subject: Page templates -- Opus Pro 04.21

I have a a publication which may well have 100+ chapters. Each chapter will contain 6 pages, each with a different page layout. These 6 pages will appear in each chapter.

It seemed to me that this might be an ideal opportunity to use the Page Template feature. The only appropriate existing Page Template in the Organiser is the Blank template.

I can copy the objects from my page to a copy of the Blank template. That isn't difficult, but it would have been easier if I could select the page and save it as s page template.

This quote comes from the Opus Help File:

To add the customised template to the Custom templates:
1: With the right mouse button click one the page itself. That is, click somewhere where no other object is or you will select that object and only that will be copied to your template.
2: A small menu will appear alongside the cursor.
3: Select the Copy to Gallery option
4: From the flyout which appears select “Custom”.
5: Now when you create a new publication in Opus and choose a Custom publication this template will be included for you to use as a Master Style in the normal way.

This works fine until I get to Step 4. "Custom" is not an available option in the flyout that appears.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

This procedure was originally designed for use with Illuminatus Opus, which did include a 'Custom' gallery by default, but this gallery was removed in Opus 04.

To restore this gallery, use the following procedure:

- Click Components > New Gallery
- Name the new gallery Custom and click Next
- Click Next to accept the default gallery location
- Select the option to 'Create an empty gallery' and click Next
- Click Finish to return to the editor

You should now be able to add pages and objects to the Custom gallery using the original procedure.

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

Kind regards,

Thanks. I'll try that.

I had thought of doing just what you suggest, but wondered if DW had worked some special "magic" to make elements in the Custom Gallery do things that we mere mortals couldn't. :D
