Hi,

1) Does anyone know how to make 1000 units of the same publication

have different passwords for each of the 1000 CDs within Opus PRO 05

2) Is it possible to have a user of a publication register the publication

over the internet and have the password automatically emailed to

them which would unlock the publication.

Thanks :)

Shawn.

Hello Shawn,

I know Chris Jones, Graphics in Action, built something like that.
In his example publication you can retrieve the harddisk number.
And he built a workaround to retrieve a password with another publication.

may this helps to build a workaround.

The link you need is: http://graphicsinaction.com/forum.htm
Button: Ilm/Opus --> Publication Security.

Probably you have to build your own work around for retrieving the passwords by e-mail.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

If you use Pro 05 XE then you can do almost all of that using the built in Evaluation Publication features. Each unlock key is tied to a specific PC and you could use the email or post web data actions to submit the unlock requests to you.

The only part you cannot currently automate is the generation of the keys, since that is a GUI application but if you wanted to commisson a custom version we might be able to help.

Hi Duncan,

You're right, that's a better idea. But I didn't know it's possible to ask DW to develop a GUI for the internet. Probably there are more Opus users interested in this feature. For sure I am.

But for the internet I think I only need the procedure (logarithm) you use to generate the unlock key. Then it's possible to program this with javascript and php to automate an unlock key generator for the web.

You also can decide how often people can ask for a new code (only once, once week, once a month etc).

Is it possible to get information about the logarithm used for the current keygenerator?

Kind regards,

We are always open to custom requests - it's just a matter of time and cost! We have done custom versions of Opus in the past for those prepared to pay for the work.

I'm afraid not - if we released it to the world at large there would be no point in having the system in the first place!

Hi Duncan,

I respect your policy. So there are three options.

1 Using the current solution of DW.
2 Building my own workaround.
3 Ask DW to build a GUI that fits to my wishes.

Thanks for your usefull information during the weekend.

Kind regards,

Hello, Ducan.

Your reply stated that Pro 05 XE could do almost all of that using the built in Evaluation Publication features.

Can the regular Pro 05 do the same as Pro 05 XE or something similar

In reference to the security feature you mentioned ?

Thanks,

Shawn.

Shawn,

These security features are only available in the XE version of Opus.
If you already have Pro 05 the upgrade price to 05 XE is only £85.06 +Vat.

I had no idea you'd done that before...

I've asked about it in the past.. but no repsonse! - At least on the forums.

We do events and like to use Opus to produce presentations...

What sort of customisations have you done?

We have done a number of customisations on both the user interface and also the addition of new feature. I'm sorry I can't be more specific but some of them are tied up in non-disclosure agreements.
