Hi Guys I'm afraid I'm not a techno and only use OPUS for developing basic training programmes.

I'm currently designing a multiple choice exam which will be accessed via a intranet site. My challenge is that I need the individual's results to be sent immediately to another person via e-mail but this is where I'm stuck.

Is it possible to get the data from the score page automatically copied into an e-mail and forwarded to an individual. If so how?

I can get the e-mail box launched but how can I get the data transferred?

Hi

One way to accomplish this is to save scores in variables (for example, answer1 for the first question, and so forth), use a store action to save variables' value(s) to a text file(s), which you can set in a document folder using a System Variable for part of the pathname, and then attach the text file(s) containing results to an e-mail in the launch e-mail action.( If the e-mail recipient has a reader version of the pub, which you can create, you could even encrypt the original text files and scores, should you want to restrict viewing. They would then need a "reader" version that is set up to unencrypt and read the variables from the text files e-mailed to them.)

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

It doesn't have to be anything like that complicated: just use an E-Mail action and insert the variables into the Message section, surrounded by angle brackets. Eg.:

Code:
User <SYSTEM_USERNAME> scored <SCORE_TOTAL> on <SYSTEM_DATE_FULL>

Thanks Duncan

Your suggestion is far easier and works nicely!

Thanks guys, it's so simple whn you know how.

One other question though, is it possible to have the resulting e-mail sent automatically without the user having to click on the send button?

If you uncheck the "Show mail dialog" option then the mail will send silently (provided you have set an address). However, be aware that in these days of e-mail worms, many mail clients will ignore that request and show the dialog anyway.
