I've got a 32bit png file. It's 734 x 520 (ie not an odd pixel size)

If I bring it on using a fade up / down / left / right transition, there's a one pixel movement shifting the image at the end. Not shifting the position of the image, but the contents.

If I use a simple fade, the problem goes.

If anyone wants to have a look, I'll send over the png file.... thoughts welcomed.

btw: I'm using 5.14 XE as I've got a few long-term projects on the go, so didn't want to risk installing the latest version. I also get the pixel jump if I have odd-pixel numbered text boxes. Is this cured in the latest upgrade?

Thanks, Linda

Hi Linda,

I'm not experiencing any problems with Opus Pro XE 5.5

I created a PNG the same dimensions as yours, plus positioned it on the screen in 1 pixel increments, and there were no signs of "jumping". Have you checked your PNG does not have any unknown transparency attributes? Have you tried resaving the same PNG as a BMP or JPEG file and re-testing?

I could find no problems with odd pixel size "text boxes" either. Have you tried a published version, and tested it on one of your other systems? Maybe DWw can shed some light on this, if there are any known issues in 5.14 that have been fixed in 5.5.

Try shifting your PNG image position 1 pixel... see if that makes any difference? Also try both Fixed & Scale-to-Fit in the Image Properties Tab.

Good luck. :)

Linda, you didn't save the png as interlaced did you? That would cause this.

I've just installed 5.5 on my laoptop, and it looks like both problems have been solved.

DW: Do you think it's OK to upgrade from 5.14 to 5.5 mid-project?

I know you can't promise, etc etc, but I'd like to know that all my fonts aren't gong to change size!

Otherwise I've got ongoing, overlaping projects for some months yet.

Thanks, Linda

Without looking at the code I can't remember what changed between those versions, and I can't do that until I go in to work on Monday. The best I can suggest is to read the list of changes in the release notes and see if anything there could possibly affect anything you're working with. Certainly there shouldn't be anything in a point release that results in a change of functionality - we restrict anything like that to major releases.

Duncan,

I'd appreciate you doing a quick check for me.

I installed one of my pubs-in-progress onto the 5.5 version on my laptop, and can't see any difference, but a second opinion would be good.

btw: should I be letting 5.5 install over 5.14, or put it into a separate folder?

Thanks, Linda
