Before I start to base a larger project on using a database, can I ask if there are any known issues / problems with doing this?

Do distributed databases pay on all OS's for instance?

Is it possible/easy for the user to corrupt the database?

What else goes wrong?

Also: If the publication is designed to write back to the database, but it can't (because the publication is run from CD, rather than installed on the user's drive, say), what would happen then?
