Hi,

I found this tab within the publication properties and wonder what it is good for. First I thought that external files which are listed here would be packed into the standalone output file but this seems not to be the case.

Thanks in advance for an explanation.

The Opus Help file states:

The Additional Resources tab in the Properties dialog box for a page or a publication allows you to add additional resources to your publication that will be referred to in an OpusScript program. Each new resource can be given an Alias, which acts as a shorthand method of referring to the full pathname for the resource. Resources can be any type of file, such as a video clip, an audio sound or a sound.

Note:

The Additional Resources tab appears in both the Page Properties and Publications Properties dialogs. The resources added in the Publication Properties dialog can be used in an OpusScript program on any page in your publication, while resources added to a page can only be used in OpusScript programs on that page.

To edit the Additional Resource tab settings:

1. The Additional Resources list contains a list of all the resources that are available on a single page or in a whole publication.

Note:
Resources listed in the Page Properties dialog, can only be used in OpusScript programs on the page in which the resources were added. Resources listed in the Publication Properties dialog can be used by any page in the current publication.

2. To edit a resource, select the resource in the Name column of the Additional Resource list and click on the Edit button – this will open an Edit dialog box. Either change the Alias name or use the Default name in the Edit dialog and click on the OK button to return to the Additional Resources tab.

Note:
You may edit a resource to give it an alias name or to rename it to a new alias or default back to its original path name.

3. To create a new resource click on the Add button – this will open the Additional Resources dialog. Enter the resource details in the dialog and click the OK button to return to the Additional Resources tab– see The Additional Resources dialog for more information.
4. To delete resource, click on the Remove button.

Note:
The resource will be deleted instantly. No warning message will be given prior to deletion.

5. Click on the Apply button to save your changes.

Sentosa, thanks for your reply.

I had read the help file already but unfortunately the help file does not say what happens to this additional resources when they are added to a publication.

As I wrote, my first thought was that these additional resources were packaged within complete *exe file when exporting to stand alone. But this is not the case.

I tried it with some *.pdf files which I launch from my publication and found that I have to put all the *pdf files manually into the publication directory for working.

So I still don't really understand what I can do with this additional resources feature.
