This is an intermittent problem...
sometimes when I launch one of 4 videos on a page the first frame of the video shows, and then there is a display of action along the very edge of the frame, as theough the video is running behind it. If I stop the video and play it again it works fine. If I have run the video previously in that session the problem seems to disappear.
Sometimes the video frame just displays a black screen until I re-run it.
I've tried chroma-key and always on top, with MP4 and MPG but the problem recurs.
This is happening on two different machines.
Any video tips gratefully accepted!
thanks :(

Mac --

Rather than having four Video Objects, and trying to stop one and start another, I use a single Video Object with a Variable to "name" the video I want running. This way, I also only need one set of controls to Pause, Play, etc that single Video Object. This also prevents multiple videos from trying to play at the same time, and it solves the problem you are describing of which video is on top running.

Set up four Button Objects, one for each video, then have each Action start with "Set Variable" (under Programming) equal to the full name (e.g. myvideo_1.mpg) of the video, then have it Run the Video Object. When you click another Button, it replaces the Variable name, then starts the new video.

Let us know if this solves your problem.

Thanks for that - it does seem to have stabilised everything. Also oddly I have a feeling the videos apear to run more smoothly.

added benefit is that if users click on other visible menu buttons they only have to stop one video object instead of having to stop all potentially running videos.
thanks for the tip
cheers

Since OPUS doesn't know the names of your videos, since you are using a Variable, you need to load all your videos manually into your Pub directory. You could also use "Additional Resources" (Edit -> Pub Properties -> Additional Resources) and ADD them there so OPUS will include them for you.

what I did was set the variable to '<SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR>myvideo.mp4' and put the videos into the publication directory. Worked great.
I didn't know about the additional resources option, so thanks for that
cheers
