Hi Larry
Once again thanks in profusion for your care and support.
I hope I can return in kind to help you in the future.
I'm a Music Technology expert.
Quote:
Also, it would help me if you didn't use 'page' to mean your sheet music file.

I don't mean sheet music I would have called it such.

Quote:
Or do you intend they type in numbers?

Only numbers.

Quote:
can you say what the range is for each of the 3 initial variables (you preset) and for the 3 variables used for 'offset' or 'adjustment'?

This varies.

What I plan to do is have the user visit the Page - say - In the Mood.
They press <SPACE> and the music page containing the music sheet appears and a MIDI file plays for practice purposes. They try the music and find their PC/LAPTOP doesn't display as required.
They return to the "In the Mood" page where they are presented with an opportunity to change the figures. They select the "change" page where the current figures (from the In the Mood script) are displayed on the page.

They type in the new figures and return to the In the Mood page. Press space and see the music sheet which now operates controlled by the
replaced figures.

Is that any clearer?

I can send you a reduced .imp if you like.

Regards
Mike

Sure. Will take a look at it.

Somewhat. Getting there. Guess I was stumbling on so many 'pages'. Thanks.

Still leaves an open question, 'how do you intend to Save the musician's numbers on his machine?'

Frankly, I have no plans. They can alter them each time they use them or let me know which numbers work on their machines.

If sound comes out of an instrument, is it music?

A diversion / distraction here. (paste a URL in the input field there)

Generally I would say that music is organised sound. However, aleotoric music is music at random. So................
Under this terminology, any sound is music, depends on the listener I suppose.
Doing well with the program. Thanks for the help Larry.
I've bought 3 Toshiba A10 laptops (EBay - good buys) which fit the bill presently.

I'd expand that definition to 4 minutes 33 seconds.

It's one of those pieces that I'd have mixed feelings about. I cannot see me buying it on CD to experience at home, but the idea of listening to it in a concern hall would be interesting.

Having listened to various beautiful compositions in such environments being tainted with background noise, the notion of a 'silent' piece where the tension of the audience to achieve real silence would be fun. It's a great discussion piece and I've used in lessons several times along with a delightful poem call the Sound Collector.

But as for his other works, I couldn't name a single piece. That's more from there being an amazingly overwhelming amount of music that could be listened too rather than anything else. Perhaps, I'll last.fm some tracks whilst working later :-)

Yes, very much so and definitely worth doing at least once. I lived in the big smoke for a few years which mad it easy to pick up deals on the amazing range of performance available. But sadly, the only thing I've not 'yet' managed to see is the proms. Definitely something on my to-do list in the next couple of years.
