Presumably there's a way of saying:
page1 to take 49 secs... I expect I'll create a variable which can be changed
It seems to me that when sheet is first displayed, that you do not want to start scrolling until the musician has had time to focus and finish the first line. Similarly, when scrolling reaches the bottom of the page, the musician may need time to finish/near-finish the last line.

So, I would construct with 3 variables. Time to play the fist line, time to play the last line, and scroll-time (which is total page play time, eg 49 sec, minus line1 and line-n times).

None of this will be perfect... given windows background tasks and different hardware.

BTW, there are different ways to construct the timing Loops. Some developers use the 'ticker concept' (search: ticker).

Before you go too far down that path, you might consider something like this:

Just an idea.
Put a page in the pub, with some sufficiently long music sheet/frame to scroll. Consider this a 'calibration page'.
OpusScript has a command to 'get scroll info'. So simply set up a button to start the scrolling, run it to the end (which you 'detect' when scrollposition equals 100 (a percent figure)). Then just record the time between start and stop.

After that, you could write that number to the Registry or a File, and use that as a 'factor' to adjust all of the songs timings for that PC.

Hi Larry

Thanks for your continued support and interest.

This is all a bit above me unfortunately. Like you I haven't programmed
for some years. I worked in various dialects and machine code but I'm
not yet familiar enough with this system. I've only ever used the usual
Opus commands which met my requirements.

Following your kind help, I've developed the program in various ways.
I don't know how to send you my main file and right now Windows 7 is
playing up and won't run Opus! Typical. I should have waited svereal months for Microsoft to sort it out. It won't download updates either.

So I'm just off to the garage for a mallet!!

Regards
Mike

Right!!!! :P
It's working again. Shut down - restart 3 times.

Hi Larry

I'm trying a few different ways of doing this and currently I'm working with a long file of two A4 pages where the user presses SPACE to start scrolling where directed.

I'll trim the file which now has about 12 pieces of a music program
working on my Windows 7 PC and I'll try to send you a copy.

Nope
still won't work - whites out and crashes.
Ho hum!
Back later.

Mike

Try again.

This is one piece of many now.

If you can't read music, you'll need a friend -
too far for me to come.

I'm trying to attach but folders seem to be a problem.

Site won't let me upload - sorry. I'll carry on on my own.

Regards
Mike

Okay... I see something to download. Will look at it.... when?

I'm on Vista. I went thru a series of 'restores' too when that was new. No interest in Win'7 for me yet.

Thanks.

I'm on my way now - all working again.

I think I'm going to change all the chapters to suit the one I've sent you.

It would be helpful if you could explain setting the speed variable a bit more for each laptop. :)

I'm not familiar with passing parameters between the shell and the script. :?:

Many thanks for all your help. I was going to go VB ( )
but this is a lot less tedious and Microsoft again???

My 7 was a "free" upgrade on the new machine ( about $18 ). I'm expecting trouble.

Kind regards
Mike
