Is there a way to get the size of an external image that will be loaded into an object?

My problem is that if i use borders around a image object, and the image is smaller than that object ( scale to fit + keep aspect ratio ), there will be whitespace on the left / right side, or at the top / bottom.

My idea was to resize the image object to match the size of the image.

Hi

A while ago I received some support assistance with a vaguely similar issue (importing videos) from the DW team. The solution may shed some light on the issue you are raising. The problem was distortion (pixelation) unless the video box in Opus was the correct size. If I recall, the QuickTime player is capable of sizing a video image. I suspect most video editors (PaintShop Pro, etc.) can do the same.

The trick for video was to add +3 to both the box's height and width, I think to compensate for the border. Try experimenting with this.

Perhaps another Forum viewer or the DW team will have additional ideas to help.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Sorry, Stephen, your issue has absolutely nothing to do with this request.

Reemski; I'm assuming you're trying to do this at runtime in the player? If not, then the editor has a Fit to Current Size option (on the Size toolbar and the Arrange menu) which will shrink the boundaries of an object to fit the current dimensions.
I'm afraid there is no way to get that information at runtime at the moment. I will add it to the feature request list but I can't promise anything.
