Has anyone created one of these types of games and would want to share some tips on going about it?

I just want to try it out. No clients, no nothing, just for fun as a scripting exercise or as an actions exercise if it's possible that way.

TIA for any input.

Hi,

Years ago someone posted a memory game on the old forum.
I don't know who created it, but the credits are for that person.

Here is the download.

Kind regards,

Thanks Oscar, I will take a look and see what I can do with it.

Very good Oscar :) It appears it was done in Illuminatus and also without script. It is a a fine example of a memory card game.

But "bwpatric" (and others) may find it a challenge to integrate this into a new pub and follow what's going on with all those actions and variables.

A key factor in designing a new pub from scratch, is in first establishing the re-shuffling, so the objects on the page can be re-used but in random positions. (obviously for a memory game or a random application)

The attached IMP is a re-shuffling card template. Nothing else! There are no variables or actions.. just the re-shuffling. The random part of the script is courtesy of Chris J. and Paul G.

It would be easy to start adding actions, variables or frames and whatnot, (so it starts working like a memory game) but this is best left to the authorer in which direction they want to go in designing their pub. I have only added some Hide/Show script to simulate cards being shuffled for sake of demonstration.

So find attached (in 2.81 version for "bwpatric"), a re-shuffling card script template. It is not exciting by itself, so the rest is up to you, as it's just a shell to start with. ;)

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Steve,

This looks very good.
The next challenge (for you "bwpatric"? ) is to change the script using the clone object so you can change how many cards you want to use and move them to the correct position.

I didn't work it out but it should be great to build it that way so you have more flexibility in building your memory game.

Kind regards,
