Ok - Starting to play with Opus Pro 5 and have already run into a "snag" and will probably feel really stupid for asking this:

I push CTRL-R for the Properties, to set screen and such - but NOTHING happens. The Property windows does NOT open?? I've re-installed twice, booted, re-booted and still cannot seem to get the Properties Window to open .. So ok, swollows pride - what am I not doing right?

Hi Jerry

Is the object you wish to display the property dialog for
selected in the organizer pane ?

Chris

Right now it's just the Publication "Default" setting - where you set the Screen size - Full Window or Window setting- even on the Chapter and Page setting or fonts (to set) - I do not see the Properties Window that I would see in V2.81 or that is shown in the HELP FILE.

So I figure from 2.81 to 5.0 that there are some "new rules" ??

Ok - None of the CTRL-R features work on importing a Graphics, Set Page Size - Set Location 50%-50% CTRL-R simply does nothing?

I am running:

Pentium 4
RAM-512 Megs
80 Gig HD with 30+ gigs free

(Does the HDrive >need< to be C:\ ?) The boot Hdrive is set at F:\ -)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am I wrong to think that the Properties Window in V2.81 should be the same in 5.0 ?? (Maybe that is where I'm "loosing it") But the Help file shows the same properties window that is in V2.81.

Thanks - Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDAT:
I installed this on my old Pent. II with Win 98 SE and the Properties Window opens just I would expect it to. So the question would be - what on XP would/could stop this from opening??

Thanks...

Respectfully: Jerry

Hi Jerry

Having not used CTRL-R to summon properties in my XE 5.14 running on XP home edition, I gave it a try. It worked to summon the properties dialogue box.

So, I suspect you may be on to something about how your hard drive path is configured. My computer is configured to C, the default.

Hope this sheds a little light.

Kind Regards,

Stephen

Jerry,

The install path will make no difference to how the program works.
I have tried to recreate this on a number of our machines here but so far have not been able to reproduce the problem. Do you have any programs running in the background that may be interfering?

You could try starting Opus up with the CTRL and ALT keys held down and then select delete all settings when the option is displayed.

I will continue to look into this are report back if I have any luck recreating the problem.

Regards

I thought of that and went in and Turned Everything OFF so that there was nothing running - and no that made no difference. (I was thinking that maybe - pop-up blockers or something might be doing this...)

I will try your suggestion and let you know.

Thanks - Jerry

Ok - after much deleting - disabling and such - The PW simply would not open. So I did what I thought I would have to do anyways - Scrub the drive and start over.

Opus 5 now works GREAT!!

Thanks to all for the help and support - I am not sure what the problem was - but I have this working now.

Respectfully: Jerry B
