I have a square cut-out in a vector shape the same size as my page (it is like a window).

I would like to have an elongated rectangle, with a scene, pass behind the square cut out - rather like the scenery passing by as viewed from a train or aircraft window.

I've managed to construct this effect OK, but I'm having a devil of a job setting up timing, etc - mainly because I can't seem to work out exactly which point in my "scene" is the reference centre point for the path animation.

Is the reference point the centre of the moving rectangle,or one of the corners?

The status bar at the base of the page has such a range of different numbers, I can't ascertain which is which.

Any enlightenment would be most welcome....

Thanks

Hi Chris,

The centre mid-point on an object is used as the reference for Animation Paths. You can try using 'Relative' or 'Absolute' on the Animation Path. The desired type may help you set up your positioning vector.

You probably know, but if you right-click on a path in the editor, it will give you the option to "display the path in Preview". (you can also reverse the direction of the path)

The mid-point of an object is displayed in the status bar as Mid(), which displays the x,y position on the page.

Hope this helps. :)

Aha... Thanks, Steve, I'll have a play around using that information.
And I didn't know about the path being viewable in preview, but I see it now, staring me in the face... Very useful.

Thanks
