This has been frustrating to say the least. What should be simple.
Attached is a new Pub with only ~2 pages... created from preset page templates and no changes to scripts, etc.

The show in turn seems to work, but for the Objects and not the lines of text. Further, the Text Object seems to be positioned well off the page. Only when I have written about 10 lines of 20pt text I begin to see only the Lower-Right corner of the text obj.

I have set my Options >> Publ default page size to be 1280 x 1024

I tried changing Chapter properties >>> window to allow resizing. But that did not solve it.

Opus 5 eval. 5.14 SR1 time is short
Windows XP Home

I did Remove Opus and reinstall already. Also did the Ctrl+Alt.. to clear regis. (wasn't aware I'd lose all the Gallery items I had set !!!)

Ideas? What to check?

My guess at this is I've either got a corrupt application, or I cannot use Page Templates / Components ( certain components) once I set Page Size for Pub/Chap to larger e.g. 1280 wide

Hi,

I've had numerous failed attempts at downloading your file (it stops downloading half-way through).

Is there any reason why the IMP needs to be over 2 meg to show the problem? If others are having problems downloading, it may be best to "zip up" the file, or strip the IMP down in resources to just show the issue. :)

Lars / Steve

There is something wrong with this pub and I don't know what it is.

It is undeed 2 megs in size but there is nothing in the publication that should explain the huge file size. I can't find any graphics or anything. Weird!

Steve - I'll zip it up and email it to you for you to have a bo peep while I work on work stuff. :P

Cheers

Graham
PS. Lars - the zip file is a mere 65,000 bytes. Always worth zipping a file if you want forum members to take a look for you.

The first page won't work since the text has no bullets and the BulletText script uses them to break up the text. Also you haven't actually added the BulletText script to the page - go to QuickBuild menu, select Script Templates and choose the "Bullet Text" option.

The second page simply needs the script adding.

The file size is related to the issue with bullets saving in the file when they don't need to. Unfortunately "fixing" this problem will break every old publication in existence - so we can't do it. However, you can resolve the problem yourself - open the page with the bullets on it and then save the publication with that page view open. The publication will now save to a smaller file size.

This issue does not effect the published files and does not adversely affect Opus itself, it's an inconvenience in the editor files only.

Thanks, all.

Duncan thanks. Your clarification helped correct my issue.

I interpreted a statement in the OPus helpfile that ALL Page Templates had preset triggers and actions... to mean they were Bullet-text ready. All I had to do was "play" the Pub and text lines would be revealed in-turn. And I could have Buttons or not... text lines would still be shown in-turn. Not so.

It seems the above EFFECTS are available IF I ensure that the (Quickbuild) Bullet text Script is an object at Page level, and the Text Objects I use were provided in the Templates. ( I found that pulling-in the Quickbuild Script places it under whichever Object is selected at the time. )

However, I can ONLY GET Bullet-text-box in templates from the Presentation set. Not the "Empty" and not the "Custom" template sets. That was my pitfall.

Yeah... 2MB was strange. Good to know.
