I am hoping to use a nifty piece of kiosk web browsing software from within Opus.
The software is from http://www.arlington.com.au/ and can completely lock down a website for kiosk use.
But -
I don't seem to be able to get Opus to use the arlington browser as my default browser, and insists on opening the browser window in IE.
Is this a limitation of Opus, or a limitiation of my ability to configure default browser..?

The web browser object in Opus uses Internet Explorer as an ActiveX control - the default browser and filetype settings will have no effect on it. It is not possible to use any other browser (Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera etc) in this way as they do not expose ActiveX interfaces.

If this Arlington browser can work as an ActiveX control then it may be possible to use it in a DocView object if you configure the HTML filetype to open in it.

However I suspect that this won't be possible because it's almost certain that Arlington is already just a wrapper for the Internet Explorer ActiveX control, since that's what most "alternative" browsers do.

The only thing you could do would be to launch the Arlington browser as an external application using the Launch action.

Thanks for your reply Duncan
Launching Arlington does work fine - it can be configured to go to a specified home page and have only an exit button, so I am returned to Opus. All other functions like taskbar ctrl-at-del right-click etc are gone so it is perfect in a kiosk.
(Pity Opus cannot disable ctrl-alt-del)
The only reason I would have liked to use the Opus browser window is that you can play Flashpaper files in a frameset in Opus and use the Opus frame to conceal the 'print' and 'open in a new window' buttons

many thanks
John
