I inserted a search facility into a fairly weighty publication, then decided against it - and thought I had deleted this element. However, the publishing process revealed that it was still embedded (the search engine database took ages to be transferred).

Can anyone let me know how to strip out the search engine?

The solution, of course, is in Publication Properties - i.e. uncheck the "use publication search database" box.
