Hi Everyone,

I am trying to open a new opus window and position it based on the screen resolution of the end user. Of course I can create 2 seperate windows - say, one for 800/600 and the other 1024/768 but this is not efficient.

Is there a way to do with one window and without going to script.

Appreciate if someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Irwan,

Having a new window (chapter) appear in the desired same position on the main page, (when changing screen resolutions), some things need to be taken into consideration. For example if the main pub window is set as size-to-fit on the Chapter Properties settings, is one scenario. Another is if you're using percentage settings like 0%, 50% and 100% these should not be a problem. (that is, if the main window is filling the screen already)

You could possibly try using the "Panels" feature in Opus. Another solution would be to create a frame on the same page, and design it to look like a page in a window. That way it will position exactly the correct place even when changing screen resolutions or using "size-to-fit".

Thanks Steve,

Have not use the Panels or frame method. Actually, I hope not to (if I can help it) since I have the project almost done. I am using a "crude" method described earlier.

Unfortunately, the new window (chapter) is not at 0%, 50% or 100% although the main pub window is filling the screen at 600/800 res.

I am hoping for a cleaner solution. Nonetheless, I will give a go at your suggestion.

By the way, does anyone know whether there is a unique "class name" of a new pub window. It seeems like all OPUS window is "ILM_VIEW_CLASS", else a third party application can be use to position the new window.

Thanks ...
Irwan
