Hi,
Whenever I preview, or run a publication, a funny little timer appears....sort of square shaped.
How do I stop it showing...........or, does it have some purpose in life that I'm missing?

The Time Marker is a very useful tool in OPUS. Let's say you have a Slideshow and a voice over narration on the same Page. To set when to have the slides change: Run your Pub in Preview, then when a slide change is required, click the Time Marker. Do it again the next time you want to mark the time when the Slideshow should change. When you are done, press ESC. The Time Mark List will appear showing the exact times you clicked the Time Marker.

Turn off the AutoStart on the Slideshow. Now use a Timeline and have an Action of "Forward One Slide" at those times on the list. It's much easier than using a stop watch to get things in sync.

Now that you know what the Time Marker is for, here's how to turn it off: Go to Tools -> Options -> View -> General. In the upper left box you'll see "Use Time Marker in preview." UN-tick it.

I've got my monitor set large enough that I can move the Time Marker off the presentation, so it's not in the way. I think once you've gotten used to using it, you'll find it a valuable OPUS feature.
