I have a rather large publication with many chapters. On the first page of a new chapter there is text introducing it on one side and related pictures on the other. I have it set up so 'on show' the pictures transition in with an appealing effect one after the other (typically 3 to 4 pictures on a page). Being the first page of a chapter there are reasons also that the student will return to the page several times. It works great the first time you come to the page and makes it obvious that you are at a new section. However, for the repeat visits it begins to get annoying since you may come back to quickly get to another link etc.

Is there a simple way to allow the transition the first time an object is shown but simply appear on any return to the page? Hope this isn't a dumb question. :?:

Thanks
Dave

There might be a way, but as a workaround, I would have a duplicate page without the transition effects and return the student to that.
Will this work for you?
Cheers
Graham

Have the objects initially hidden, with no transition set on them, then add an On Show trigger to some other object on the page with actions like:
Code:
If Variable FirstTimeFlag == 1
    Show (list of objects with a transition set on the Show action
    Set FirstTimeFlag = 0
Else
    Show (the same objects with no transition)

(Where FirstTimeFlag is a publication variable (or a persistent page variable, but NOT a normal page variable or it wont work!) with an initial value of 1.

Consider using Duncan's FirstTimeFlag variable, then If it's equal to "1" start a Timeline which has Shows with specific Transitions for your 3 or 4 Image Objects, then when it's "2" just have a single Show which presents all the Objects together.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I used the variable FirstTimeFlag method and it worked like a champ. Not only did it work but it was so easy I am kicking myself for not thinking of it.

Thanks :D
