I'm building a publication which has quite a lot going on in terms of objects and hotspots.

To make life easier, I have introduced layers which I can hide at will to make drawing easier.

I am trying to use a separate (topmost) layer on which to draw new objects so that they are not cluttered with existing objects and/or bounding boxes - the idea being to drag them into a more appropriate layer when I've finished them - likewise with the associated hotspots.

I have noticed that this method causes the hotspots not to work. I have had to delete all the objects and redraw them on the layer they are supposed to eventually reside in.

Is this normal behaviour? It's not as if any links have been broken.

I have also noticed that with several layers containing a variety of objects present in my publication, attempting to hide or show the layers from the Layers Palette causes all sorts of strange problems - the selections appear to jump about, making it impossible to turn on/off the visibilty of any particular layer.

Has anyone else noticed similar oddities, or is it a "feature" of either my publication or my equipment?

\Not entirely sure I follow but are you moving objects with actions from one layer to another? If so, in common with all other Opus copy/paste/move actions you will need to move the object with the actions and the objects those actions effect at the same time. The action remapping when you move things can only "know" about objects that are being moved with them, if that makes any sense.

Thanks, Duncan - I thought everything being in the same publication/chapter/page would keep the relevant links.
Sussed out another way of doing it now!
