Hi All

I have a several scrollable images (a digital magazine) and a print button but when you use the print button it only prints the visible part of the image in the scroll area not the complete image. :?

Opus printing is extremely flexible.

Try telling it to print the image object rather than the page. This way the whole image will print regardless of being scrollable.

BTW - You need to add your Opus and System details to a signature using the profile link above.

Yes, if you tell OPUS to print an Object, it will only print the portion visible on the screen. If you've got lots of text in a scroll object, only the top portion will print.

There's a work around. You need to create a new Chapter which has enough height to accommodate your longest Object (Text, Graphic, Frames, whatever). Copy & Paste your scrollable object into the new Page within the new Chapter, then remove the scroll bars. You will NEVER actually see this new Page.

Back on the original Page, change your Print Action to print the new Page in the new Chapter. I just created a new Chapter 640x2332 and pasted a formerly scrolling Text Object without scroll bars on a new Page in this special Chapter. Back in the normal size Pub, I created a Button with a Print Action, instructing OPUS to print the oversized Page. My printer reduced the actual size of the text to fit on a single printed page. The font size is extremely small -- almost unreadable, but the entire text is there. I had originally thought my printer would just continue printing on a second page, but it did not.

Hope this helps.

Morning Fred,

That's not exactly true. If you create an object that is partially off screen, Opus will print the entire object if it is selected by the print action. The same does apply to objects in a scrollable frame.

How it deals with this, I'm not sure as I don't use printing, but it seems that depending on how much it off screen, depends on how Opus fits the object to the page.

I'll email you an example later.

Mack

Mac --

I'm looking forward to getting your example. Every example I have of Objects with scroll bars, only print what is immediately visible within the initial scroll area. I do NOT get the entire text or image when scroll bars are used.

I've got an HP All-In-One printer. Any chance the type of printer could make a difference? What printer do you have?

Hi Fred,

Me too. A HP7410. I think it's the object dimensions not the printer. Have sent your example back.
