I've used the launch web page action in a website I created as follows
Launch http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=<gig_ref0>
The variable is the address or post code of a venue. This works great. The only problem I have is that it closes my site and opens the map site.

Is there a way to open a second browser window for the map site?
even better if you could open it and specify the initial size to say 640 x 480. so that the original site could still be seen behind it.

Thanks in advance

I created a blank, new Page, and then a Button Object. I selected an Action of "Launch Web Page." I typed "www.maps.google.com" and clicked OK.

When I Preview this test, a second window opens with Google's excellent Maps site. Is it possible you have your browser set for full screen, so it's actually only covering your Pub, rather than closing it? My test Pub is still running, so I have to exit the second window to return to it, but it doesn't close as you mentioned.

Hi Demofred.

It work ok when I run it in preview mode, but not when it's on-line.
Sorry I should have made this clearer.

See attached click on Gigs button then on the map button for first location
in the list.

Here's a way you could do it.

Set up a separate chapter and make it 640x480 in size and set to open up a new window and modify any window "dressing" you want. On the page in this chapter, create a browser object and make sure it is not set to automatically connect to anything. Then on the browser object set an On Show action to Navigate to Variable. Set the variable to navigate to the variable you are setting earlier.
Then on your main page where you have the links to go to the Google map, just have the action be to go to the page where the browser is.

Hope that makes sense. I tested it out on a web publication, which I believe you are using, and it works fine.

In a CD/DVD/computer HD Publication you can have multiple OPUS windows or multiple tasks/applications running at the same time, but you have built something which runs on the Internet. If I click the BACK icon on the Google Map window, it takes me back to your web page/OPUS Publication. That's the way my Internet works for everyother website.
