I have not used passwords before - instructions seemed clear so ...

I have a 12 chapter publication. I want to password protect one page in one of the chapters. I created chapter 13 and moved the page into it. I "Enabled Passwords" in the Publication Settings, checked "None" for the 12 original chapters and created a new password and associated it with chapter 13 only. I unchecked "Disable passwords in Editor preview" so I could test.
It works to a degree - I access the passworded page as expected and return to the "previous page". I test a second time and cannot return to the "previous page" because I am asked again for a password but am trapped there and need to Ctrl -Alt-Del to escape.
Once it worked but on a second trial all pages became passworded with an unknown password.
HELP!
Phil
I'm using Opus Pro 4.0 Do I need to upgrade?

Hi

I created the attached password sample using Pro XE 5.5, so I'm not 100% sure it will work with Pro 4.

See if this is what you are trying to do.

The password in this example is hard coded as: mmm
You could change it to another set of letters/numbers.

Some extra scripting could add the possibility that once the user has entered the correct password once, it would be "remembered" (stored in a variable) and, from that point on, they would not need to enter it again to go to the password-protected page.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Thanks Stephen for taking the time to create and attach this .imp sample. I can see what you have done and will try to use the idea in my pub.
I still wonder why the other method doesn't work! I have made a number of test pubs. and they all have the same problem. I "searched" and there is a similar question but the sample provided used only two chapters so does not replicate my problem.
Anyway thanks again Stephen
Phil
