Hi everyone, can anyone help me with a small problem i have?

I have a listbox within a publication containing 30 variables. The contents of the box are read from file on page show. There are approx 15 seperate entries in the box at any time. This works ok. The problem I do have is that when I store the listbox selected text as a variable, when I try to display that variable on screen the text is actually the listbox variable name rather than its contents!!

I was hoping that enabling the listbox to read from an external text file would allow me to update the text file rather than the program if the need arose.

Anyone?

Hi

Could you post a sample .imp of this so that we can take a look? It may be easier to spot how you are setting the text selection points, etc., by viewing the actual script.

Kind Regards,

Synergy,

If I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

I don't think you can have the variable <listbox_selected_text> appear correctly when you click on the VAR in a text box when all the other VARs are included within that text box, because the text box has FOCUS not the individual variables.

The attached IMP has the variables in a frame, but each variable is in their own text box.

Have a look at the attached imp file. Place the IMP file in the same Folder with the fruit.txt.

Thanks for the help folks. It does look as though Leo has a solution although I have only looked at it briefly. I will let you both know.

Thanks

Thanks for replying you guys. The fix suggested by Leo works great and is exactly what I was looking for. It is a little bit more work than my original try but the duplicate feature of opus is just amazing in this instance.

For those who have not downloaded the IMP, it contains a listbox, populated from an external text file. The listbox contents can now take on a dynamic style with updates to the listbox contents only having to be made via the text file. The listbox content can also be selected and displayed or used elsewhere using the variable options.
