Hello,
I have created an image preview CD for a client that they will send out to a large number of people.

This is how it works. The user can click on the thumbnail to preview the image from the CD or click a button to download the images to the hard drive.

On the CD, the project .exe is in the root drive, with an Images folder, and then 1 subfolder for each category. The images are in the category subfolders.

Many people have tested the CD, but one person can't preview the images from her the CD. She has to download the images to her hard drive and she can view them from there.

Since she is the only one having this problem, I am thinking that maybe her computer is having problems with file associations when opening a file from a CD drive. Does that sound like it could be it?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
It could well be that.
We often have trouble with computers at my Institute for various reasons that have little to do with the computer or software but lots to do with the way the computer has eebn set up.
One reason could be file association as you identified
Another could be that a sysop has restricted access to certain drives and certain types of files only.
The fact that your publication runs well on most computers is proof enough that the problem in all probability lies with the computer.
Cheers
Graham

Some questions to ask:

It's funny that she can see the pictures once they are copied to her hard drive but not from the CD. Does she have some type of virus checker that prohibits her from opening files that are located on her CD drive.

When the thumbnail image is clicked in Opus, is Opus supposed to open the image? Or, do you launch the users default image viewer?

Can she use Windows Explorer to open the CD-ROM (drive) Folder and double click on a image file and have it open?

Leo

Hi guys,
Thanks for the reply. She told me that she clicking the thumbnails do open the images from one category, so that pointed me to my answer. I looked at my pub in Opus, and all the thumbnail action paths for that category had back slashes, while the others had forward slashes. I find it odd that caused problems on her PCs, but not other PCs, but it was an easy fix at least.
Thanks a lot,
Mike
