Hi Guys/gals

I created this stupid little game and to my suprise my friends love it and want more levels of difficulty . Now what i wanted was a to have like 4 radom level 1 pages so that it would not be the same sequence page for Level 1 and so on for level 2 and on and on .I have created button's that will direct them to different levels with the intent that all i would have to do is make different chapters and direct them there with a random go to page action .

But nope its not that easy LOL . Whats the best way to handle this problem ?

Please take into mind that i am not a programer , and that i just some how seem to find my way around.

Thanks in advance

Al

( i noticed that with the GOto page action , i cannot chose a chapter . Didn't we used to be able to do that Before )

Hi Al

I'm assuming that your levels are on different pages. If that is the case, the following tutorial that I put together last year covers random pages

http://www.digitalgrapevine.info/viewtopic.php?t=1600

I have attached the random page publication separately here. Basically all you need to is to copy the script into your publication.

If you have trouble you can email your pub to me and I can have a look at if for you. Your game sounds fascinating and I wouldn't mind playing it myself!

Let us know how you get on

Cheers

Graham

Hi Graham,

I went to that link you gave me and could not find any download links for the inp files .

Now if you really want to see my stupid game you can get it at www.mail.middlewarriors.com/sysop/getphil.zip please remeber that i am NOT a programer and this game was inspired buy Popups and fraustration . However , it has some how aquired cult status and i am improving it . It's so stupid but if it actually takes off , i will look at it professionally LOL....

I have made 2 versions, the 1 here in the link can be played by kids and BIG Kids 2 LOL

Ps: it has 50 downloads logged , in beta status ( i told 5 friends to try it ) in 24 hours.........I think i re-created the pet rock LOL

Thanks for your help

Al

Hi Al
I had a look and couldn't see any files either!
Logged in and there the files were!!
They're there - you just need to log in to see them
I'll have a look at your game soon Al, after I've finished some chores that must be done.
Yes - I hope you are on your way to fame and fortune. That would be a fantastic thing to happen to you.
Cheers
Graham

Just downloading now - Thanking you very much.

You might like to keep an eye on your download allowance. When something is really popular the number of downloads on the Internet can grow exponentially.

If your Internet plan is one of those where you agree to pay an excess use fee, you may face considerable costs.

I have to go out for a while, but will look at your game later this evening.

Cheers

Graham

Now that was a very simple BUT cool expalnation , and i understood it LOL. Ok so lets go alittle deeper...... lets say i have 2 questions BUT i want 3 random answers for each quesion

Q1--------------------------------------
\ \ \
R1 R2 R3

Q2---------------------------------------
\ \ \
R1 R2 R3

R = Random Response

Can i tell the script to only return what random choices i allow it ?

In the old days i beleave we could call random pages from chapters , so we could ask a questions and only get response from those sources...

Al

Hi Al,

Have just posted some script for OpusLover under his reading from txt file that reads a question and then poses three possible answers in random order. It might help:-?

Hi MacKavi

All i need is to have 1 page be able to call 3 possible others LOL . You would think this was easier .......

i have made a game with 10 levels , i want 3 variable answers for each level so that it keeps it fun . I have loooked at your scripts and i don't think any apply for my needs . I must THANK YOU for being so kind and sharing and i hope i can return the favors some day .

I wish scripts were this easy ---- Look Below -----

This page (1) Calls ( Varpage 1-2-3 )
( on Exit return to Page "MAIN" )

This page (2) calls ( Varpage 4-5-6- )
( on Exit return to Page "MAIN" )

This page (3) calls ( varpage 7-8-9)
( on Exit return to Page "MAIN" )

Cannot it not be that easy.......................Sorry guys i dont mean to discredit those who script , i just find it so confusing at times......I need a course ( smile )

Al

Hi Al,

Maybe I'm missing something, but it should be that easy. If I follow, once page one is complete, you want to call a random page 1,2,3?

If this is so, why not simply generate random number between 1 - 3 and use goto page.

Am I missing something.

Mac

Hi Al

You emailed me this morning with clarification about what you want, and then on coming home I sat down and spent the last half hour creating a non-scripting test publication for you based on your email. When I'm about to upload your test publication I find you have written some more about what you want on the forum later.

I think the attached pub is more or less what you want, but what you said in your email to me and what you said here are a little different.

Anyway, I hope this assists you. It is a non-scripting solution to your random levels problem, but it does assume the player 'graduates' from one level to a higher level each time a level is completed.

Also, I'm pleased to hear that your publication is now without the 'adult' language. This is a good decision in my opinion.

Cheers

Graham
