I am building a small Flex publication. Several small pictures (icons) can be dragged and dropped onto white, empty boxes. Using "this object dropped" trigger I activate lot of things, price calculation, setting variables etc. This all works fine.

But now my problem. The first thing a customer does when opening the publication is to decide how many white boxes he wants to have visible to drag the icons onto. Most customers will probably hide some boxes. No trouble so far, but then the funny thing happens that when tested in Flash player the hidden boxes are still accepting the icons to be dropped onto them, and thereby triggering the actions. If someone accidentally drops an icon onto a hidden box, it upsets the calculations etc.

I hate workarounds, but instead of hiding a box, I can move it out of the area, and back again if the customer wants to show it again.

Any idea what is going on?

I don't know what's going on because I no longer us Flex. Also, I don't know if the solution I suggest will work in Flex, but it might be worth trying.


When your customer activates the trigger to hide the box, consider this action:

1. Simultaneous Action Group
1a. Hide object
1b. Disable object

Hopefully that might resolve the issue for you.
