Help!

Just got Opus v6 onto new Dell PC - spec as below, and am finding it is taking a few seconds to refresh the page view - even when I just scroll up or down the page slightly. Is this an issue with Opus, or does anyone know what to do to get around this?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul

I'm running Opus on a notebook that has specifications much much lower than your machine and I don't have any issues with scroll speed whatsoever.

I can think of two questions for you to help identify the problem but other more technically minded people forum members may think of more questions to ask.

1. Do a control + Alt and Delete and see what programmes are running in the background. Is your virus checker or something else running behind the scenes? This could chew up cpu time and make OPus run more slowly.

Checkalso how many copies of Opus.exe you have running as well. If you open and close Opus a few times without saving anything, you may find more than one Opus.exe there. This problem occasionally occurs and will be fixed in the next update.

2. Please tell us what content you have in your publication. Large graphic file sizes and/or videos will slow any machine down.

The more minformation you can provide about your publication, the more likely someone on this forum can identify the problem and assist.

Hope this helps. Let us know please.

Cheers

Graham

Hi

I have five video files in the presentation - total 125 mb - but only on 5 of over 100 pages - will this cause a delay in screen refreshing?

There's nothing at all running in background on PC - no virus software etc, and only one copy of opus running.

Cheers,

Paul

Just so you don't drive yourself crazy chasing this down, suggest 'disable' wireless networking and also external USB devices... temporarily.

Simple things also like fragmented drive and almost-full drives cause Windows to work overtime.

I think Paul is talking about Opus v6 on Vista.
with Aero on, I get the same delay.
The only fix I have at present is to turn Aero off.

I have another issue with Aero enabled. Make a window longer than the vertical screen resolution so the page has a scrollbar, drop a few objects on the page then preview it.
When I scroll by dragging the page scrollbar I get an unacceptable screen flicker -- this is on various new Vista computers with the latest video drivers. It is the same after being published, and it is causing me some concern -- I've already told a couple of clients to turn Aero off, after they told me their computers were new and drivers were up to date.

cheers
Paul

Thanks for that - I've just turned Aero off and the screen is now working totally normally! I only had the problem when working in Opus, not with finished publications, so I think for me this has solved the problem - many thanks!
