Is there a way to make a report from Ms access that used with opus and display it to the user/
If YES what are these ways and what is the best.

I don't think that you can display an mdb file within Opus, using the DocView for example. But you could cause the MDB file to be open when a button is clicked and configure the database to display the report page once opened.

If you are wanting to view a specific data query, then you would need to write the query parameter from Opus to the MDB file before calling.

Not the most elegant of solutions but a possilbity if you don't want to display the information directly from Opus or need control over page printing.

When I tested using Access in Opus, I found that if (1) you include a copy of the Access DB file (.mdb or newer 2007 format, .accdb) in the publication (or another accessible) directory, then (2) set up in Opus an interface (like text boxes with variables inserted) to view the data and (3) set up the database actions to open, read/write to the DB, should work without the end-user having a copy of the full Access program.

Also, I believe that MS makes an Access viewer available as a free download (could arrange a link to the URL in Opus), so the end-user may also be able to view the .mdb or .accdb file directly, via that download and a docview, if that would be useful. But the viewers typically don't allow editing/changing data.

But how to make a report in Ms Access and save it to be dynamically changed when the data in the database changed?

Knowing little about Opus DB functions a couple of months ago, I began with Robin Garrett's excellent series of tutorials on the Forum. Here's the first http://www.digitalgrapevine.info/viewtopic.php?t=296&highlight=database+part. They were a good beginning, supplemented by many colleagues on the Forum. Once you get started, practicing the tutorials, ask plenty of questions to aid learning.

I'm still a novice regarding DB's but know alot more now than when I started.
