my pub may need to run on a pc which has powersaving enabled. I have ticked the property to disable screensaver but the pc still shuts down the monitor after a period of time.
Is there any activity I can generate within the pub which will keep the pub active when users are absent... like change mouse position or read from a file on C: or whatever?
all advice appreciated...

Maybe this could be done in OpusScript? Something that removes all colour RGB(x,y,z) which have any shade close to "GREEN".

I think you may face two sorts of control types. Screensavers for mouse/kybd inactivity, and powerdown settings such as in laptops. I would be surprised if you could override those.

Have you looked for utilities which may simulate mouse activity? or kick the PC alive.
I found this, http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Util ... _down.html
but don't know if it will work in your situation.

Hi Mac,

Use Opus to call Powercfg. This application should be available from 2K upwards. Check by entering a console and typing Powercfg /? this is also give commands on change power settings.

hmmm- get rid of the greens... tempting, but we'll probably need them later.
I think the PCs will have powercfg - would I just launch it and put the parameters in the 'with parameters/options' box? as if I were typing them into the console?
(thanks for replying by the way)

Just a thought :D

If you can alter the settings when the publication is launched, you may be able to reset the settings when the publication is terminated perhaps?

Then again, for all I know, this may not be possible.

Cheers

Graham

Hi Mac,

Yes, just launch and put the CL switches. I'll use this method for several DOS programs and it works well. Interestingly, you can also add the program as an additional reosurce and call it.
