Hi All,

I know that these are probably due to my incompetencies:

I experienced a few funnies:
1. Text boxes that I created and inserted variables in, became "locked". These could be moved, but automatically reverted to their initial positions and I could do nothing with them. I had to eventually delete these and recreate them.
2. All the objects in a page were duplicated. I had to delete all duplicates.

How can I stop this from happening in the future?

This "phantom" duplication has been an annoying problem since v4 and possibly as far back as v2.

Opinions on this differ, but the most common cause I have found for it, is to duplicate pages, chapters or even complete pubs.

There seems to be no consistency as to when the problem arises. I've duplicated chapters, only to find that some pages have the phantom duplicates, while others don't.

You ask how to prevent it? Well, the only solution that I have found is to stop duplicating pages, or any object that contains pages. That's not as bad as it sounds.

1. To duplicate a page, I copy it to a Gallery, and paste it back.
2. To copy a chapter, I copy it, page by page to a Gallery, and paste the pages back.
3. Copying a pub is probably the simplest. Use "Save As" and make sure that you change both the file name (filename.imp) and the publication name that appears in the Organiser.

Since I have strictly imposed this routine on my operations, I have not suffered from the phantom duplicates.

I've not experienced this problem, but do occasionally run into weird happenings for which there seems to be no logical explanation. What you've experienced might be one such happening.

When this happens, try saving everything, shutting Opus, and rebooting. Strangely, that sometimes fixes the problem, and if it doesn't I get to make coffee while waiting for the reboot.
