Hi all,

I have made a Pub that refers to a file ( FTP.exe ) but for some reason Opus V6 keeps adding a string to the line......in the action area it states ftp like this ftp://ftp.exe thats how it tries to call the file . I remove the ftp:// and click save and it looks oK , but every time i go back it auto changes back to what i don't want ....

Why the Phantom code , anyone else see this ?????? i will attach a print screen of it.

Try deleting the button, and start afresh.

P.S setup this exact action and don't the phantom code :-?

Mack i tried that 5 times and every time i remake the button it eventualy goes back and add;s the Phantom " ftp:// " before ftp.exe LOL . Its like a ghost.....i make the change , i apply it , then i save the Pub and then i review the actions and " It;s Back " LOL.

Tell you what i am wondering , could the main ILM or primary file be corrupt ?????

Try it yourself......Creat a button and link it to the FTP.exe in the windows/system32 dir , apply it , save it and then review the actions and see if it changes for you......even try closing OPUS and restarting.....

I think its funny , but in all honesty i need to use that feature...

Thanks in advance

Al

Hi Al,
I suspect that Opus is reading the first three letters in "ftp.exe" and assuming that ftp is required.
put "file://" (no quotes) in front of ftp.exe, to force Opus to recognize the file is on the local machine.

ie try

file://ftp.exe in the "launch this file" box.

works for me.

cheers
Paul

Hi Al,

I'd have to agree. If I'm loading the same file, then it's not a name, and if replacing the button doesn't do - then it's not some kind of memory for a previous action.

Two things:

1. Does this occur in a completely new publication?

2. Can you email me the new publication (if it occurs) and or the original with the problem.

Mack

P.S Just of thought of #3. Try linking to an alternative exe and other type (doc or pdf) does it still do this?

Hi Paul ( and Mack )

Placing the word File:// before the FTP.exe " works " . I have to remember that in future setups....

Thanks Paul and Mack for your time
