Hi Al,
you get that file when you make your pub searchable/indexed.
It must stay with the pub or the search function won't work.

If you create a simple Pub without a "Search" function, when you Publish you should have just two files: 1) EXE; and 2) AutoRun.inf.

If you add the ability to SEARCH within your Publication, then a third file (ILMSrch.dll) will be added. Why OPUS would add this IF you aren't using the SEARCH function is beyond me, but you can delete it IF it bothers you. Since it would only be called/used when doing a SEARCH, I can't believe it would slow your load time!

Hi Al

Are you by any chance checking

Publication Properties > General (2) > Miscellaneous Options: Use publication search database ?

This is the only way I know to produce the file ILMSrch.dll.

I've not experienced the presence of file ILMSrch.dll slowing down the loading of a published publication. Even with my biggest pubs, ILMSrch.dll has not exceed 50KB, so I suggest that something else is causing the slow loading issue.

Here's a tip I've found useful because I produce pubs that exceed 1000 pages, are exclusively text-based, and need to be searchable.

However, during development when I need to publish to check various issues, I find the continual production of file ILMSrch.dll annoying. This takes less than 2 minutes even for my biggest pubs, but I have a low tolerance for waiting around :) . During development, I just uncheck the box mentioned above and turn it back on when I need it.

Thanks to all of you whom responded , Sentosa hit the nail right on the head ........In the properties of the Pub there was a choice to make the Pub searchable , i just took the check mark out . I found it weird that it was checked to begin with ???

Thanks to all of You,

Al
