I want to be able to produce a small (400x300) splash screen that is actually a page in a chapter called 'splash'. For various reasons I do not want to use a normal splash image that is specified when publishing.

This will display for a few secs before it goes to the next chapter which is larger, say 800x600.

How do i set the publication and chapters up so that it shows the splash page in a small window first followed by the second chaper in larger screen?

I am certain i have done this in the past but my brain cannot seem to work it out now!

Regards

Hi Clive

Create 2 (or more) chapters - setting your splash to 400 x 300 and the others to 800 x 600 (or whatever you choose). In the publication's properties window make sure that you select "Display in Window" from the drop-down menu in the "Windows" tab (you don't need to change any of the other settings - but you can play around with them). In each of the chapter properties windows select the "Display in New Window" radio button in the Windows tab. I have attached an example.

A footnote - remember that this will not behave like the Cover Dialogue produced by Opus (as created during the publishing process) i.e. your whole publication will have to load and run before you see your splash - what's wrong with just creating your own splash image and then using this as a custom cover dialogue during publication?

David

Thanks for that. After comparing yours with my own I have just realised that you cannot have a chapter set in a new window if you are producing a Flex version of the program and even though I thought I was going mad I had obviously not published to Flex in this way before. Why you cannot have a new window I do not know.

Regards

Clive
