I want to use Opus XE to create a DVD publication. The DVD needs to work on all DVD players and is basically (at least from my understanding) a slideshow with no user interaction.

Is this easily done, and/or is there another tool better suited to this? Is it possible to make the presentation loop and replay continuously?

Thanks for any/all answers.

Brian --

I would NOT try to build a DVD Slideshow in OPUS. There are many simple video editing packages, including a $20 option for Windows Media Player which will take all your photos, include transitions, and automatically set the length of each according to the length of music you include.

You know I LOVE OPUS, but you will be doing a lot of work trying to get it to work versus a simple video editor. I'm still using Pinnacle's old Studio 9 Plus. It will even make original music to fit the length of your presentation. Skip their versions 10 and 11. They are full of bugs. I'm sure you can pick up an old copy of Studio 9 on eBay or equivalent.

Some DVD players have a Repeat function, so you can have the presentation cycle over and over.

Thanks Fred for your reply. I was starting to think nobody would reply. :)

Your reply also confirms the direction I was leaning towards. I thought it might be simpler to use a different tool, just was wondering if anyone had had experiences good/bad with Opus doing something similar.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

I would like to reverse my initial posting advice. I had a client call who wanted a DVD which would LOOP at the end of a large number of photos. My video editing software makes a standard DVD, but it won't loop, so I looked at OPUS' DVD making option. I put a photo on each Page, using a Master Page with the client's name and telephone number. Each Page views for 6 seconds, then using a Page Transition, goes to the next Page. On the last Page, I selected to have the Pub start over. It works GREAT!!!

One minor surprise/feature was when I selected a JPG photo to appear while the Pub is loading, before it actually runs on a DVD player. OPUS goes back and re-shows THAT image rather than the first Page in my Pub. I could delete the Custom start-up image, but it actually shows that the Pub is starting over, so I left it in.

I didn't try using a single Page with a Slideshow along with a Trigger of "Synch to End of Slideshow" but suspect it would work fine. Using separate Pages, I was able to add Text on certain Pages when required. I will have to try this using a Video Object for another project.

OPUS is amazing...
