Has anyone else had a problem like I describe below. It's an intermittent problem, but it's happened on four different PC's I've used Opus on, so I think it's more likely an Opus glitch:

Occassionally, when I'm previewing my publications, much of the text on a page fails to appear correctly. Only the botto half of the text appears, right at the top of the text box, as though the text is centred on a spot above the text frame altogether. If I go back to the same screen, sometimes the problem has been resolved. I can't find any reliable way of knowing if / when the error occurs.

If anyone else has come across similar problem I'd love to hear from you - and if you have a cause / solution, then so much the better.

Cheers,

paul

Had a similar thing this week.
In my case the text box just needed enlarging slightly so the text had a bit of extra room.

Thanks. In my case this is not the issue, as most of the time the text displays correctly, but occasionally when the same page is shown the problem occurs

I just noticed when trying to match a customer's font, I was trying different fonts and at times part of the text was not displayed correctly?? have you tried a different font to see if this might be the problem??

Hi

the problem happens woth a range of fonts, but happens intermittently. If it always happened with a particular font, then changing as you suggest would solve the problem. But it's an intermittent problem....

I have embedded in my mind the DW standard reply to any problem like this was 'have you the latest graphics drivers installed?'

intermittent problems are very difficult to fault-find, but

Another idea to try.....I just noticed you have an integrated graphics card. As a test, is there any way of allocating more memory to it?? or change the colour/resolution.

what happens if you run your IMP published on another PC on your PC??

and my standard reply to any 'strange' problems is--have you tried reinstalling Opus and re-setting the registry??

Hi Sandyn

Thanks for that - a few things worth a try.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Opus a few times, and the problem has continued, so don't think that that's an issue.

but not tried allocating more memory to graphics card - definitely worth a try

PC (DELL) was only built a month ago so expect that latest drivers are on board, but will check. As this problem has dogged me for four PC's I doubt this will solve issue but worth a try

Haven't seen (m)any examples of issue on final published version, but when you're taking a product to market, even a 'regular' fault in demo mode is a concern

Thanks for your time - I'll check drivers and increase memory allocation to graphics card (once I figure out how to do so).

Cheers,

Paul

Paul --

After I create an approximation of the Text Object I need, I enter the characters. I then click the "Fit to Contents" icon which allows OPUS to make sure I have the proper sized Text Object. I then move the entire Text Object to its final location on the Page.

Follow my procedures, and I'm sure you will NOT have the problem you have described.
