Hi.

I have a few questions regarding the work in Opuse:

1. How best to implement both transitions: fade in and zoom? Method of timeline?
2. How to change in the object "text" the distance between letters and between lines?
3. It starts with animation in the project and need to enable the user to suspend by mouse click and go to the next page, but so far no end animation that is not possible.
4. Which way is best user can store their data? With databases is OK, but as realize to record variables to the file and then read it?
5. Where I can download more Opus examples: complex projects, scripts, games?
6. I would like to make a quiz. It use about one hundred GIF animations. You see 3 animation pictures and the question "who is on the picture?". One picture is correct. How it is better achieved? Can random load GIF?

Sorry for my bad language.

Hi Volga, welcome back to the forum.

It seems you are using an older version of Opus, no? I suggest you consider an upgrade to v6. It is quite stable and has lots of powerful features plus ease of use. Nicely designed and improved.

I can perhaps help with some questions for what works in v5.5 and v6. I find it not easy to answer "what is Best".

Quote:
1. How best to implement both transitions: fade in and zoom? Method of timeline?
Transitions can be set at least 3 ways not including scripting.
- Object Properties has a TAB for transitions, to set the Default case.
- for Show or Hide actions, you may set transition type and parameters.
- specific actions, whether triggered or in timeline.
'Best' depends on if you want simple/easy effort, repeatable... or most control.

2. How to change in the object "text" the distance between letters and between lines?
Select TextObject, go into Properties. Go to text TAB. There find margin settings and paragraph formatting.
* I recommend creating a "master" example of your text object with font types and margin settings, etc... then copying that into a Component Gallery. Later, drag&drop from Gallery when you need that type of object.

3. It starts with animation in the project and need to enable the user to suspend by mouse click and go to the next page, but so far no end animation that is not possible.
You can set up a trigger and an action. Opus has action that is "Stop animation" and also "Pause/resume animation". If you use timeline, then I think you have an action to Stop or Pause a timeline.

4. Which way is best user can store their data? With databases is OK, but as realize to record variables to the file and then read it?
This is a 'best' question I cannot answer.
Please do a Search in this forum. Try different keywords. Write file, read file, read line, DB, database... you get the idea.
HINT: be logged-in... then you will see when contributor have attached sample files.

5. Where I can download more Opus examples: complex projects, scripts, games?
Forum tutorials.
Forum posts.... be logged in.
Opus/DW website >>> resources >>>
Upgrade to Opus v6, get examples included.

6. I would like to make a quiz. It use about one hundred GIF animations. You see 3 animation pictures and the question "who is on the picture?". One picture is correct. How it is better achieved? Can random load GIF?

Not my area of knowledge.

!!!! Unanswered: Database & File/Storage; Quiz & Gifs, randomizing.

Good luck.

Please update your profile to use a signature... to show Opus version and System specifications. It helps people to help.

Hi.
Many thanks, Lar_123.
I`ve Opus 5.5.
I`ll trying to download the new trial v 6.0, it could help me.

The problem is that while two transitions are made impossible. First one transition, then another. I need to fade in and zoom in both at the same time. Well, this is not important.

In my version Opus is not "paragraph formatting":(
Thanks for the advice about Component Gallery

I`m using "Stop animation" It`s work.

I decided to use the database. There is a new problem. I use two tables. In one "list of issues" and each issue has many "solutions" which located in another table. Each entry in tables have their ID. I don`t undestand, what code to use, when choosing one "issue"can view the list of all "solutions".

Quiz & Gifs - is the most difficult, I reading the opusscript manual.

Once again, thank you very much:)
Opus is really convenient program. Worked with Mediator, MMB, Director, but Opus most powerful and easy tool.

Volgar,

I suggest you post separate topics for two of your questions here.

If you ask about Database and what you are trying to accomplish with DB in one Topic, people can focus better to help.

Same thing with Quiz and gifs and randomizing... all this can be asked in one Topic. Many great developers in Opus have experience with these kinds of applications.

It is 'okay' to ask the questions you asked -- in one post. But now that it's more clear what you plan to do, it will be much easier to solve and develop discussion in separate Threads (for those 2 at least).

I do not know if Timeline can or cannot do it. You can create Trigger plus "simultaneous action group". Under Actions, I think that is under 'Advanced' or maybe under 'Programming'. Then build one Action for FAde. Build another Action for Zoom. (both under that 'simul... group')

I forget if v5.5 had this or not. Looks like.... attached.

If you do decide to take-up discussion on DB, Quiz etc in new Topics, please say so in a reply here so readers will know to answer those somewhere else.

Glad you're trying out v6. More than just the Feature differences (which are nice) are some very small improvements not mentioned... that are real time-savers.

Unfortunately, I never will find a solution to the problem with the simultaneous work of the two animations for one object (picture, for example). For example, follow the path and fade. If I use the timeline, the first an animation is played, then the other, but not both. :(

Hi Volgar,

If you have downloaded the trial version of Opus v6, you might like to try the following to get simultaneous animations on the one object.

As Lar_123 suggested, it is possible if you use a "simultaneous action group."

The steps I've found to work are:
1. Draw the animation path on the page. (Any of the preset paths worked for this)
2. Insert the picture you want to animate onto the same page.
3. Right click on your picture and select "Animation Wizard" from the menu (also available under the Tools menu)
4. Follow the steps in the wizard setting the options you require. It will ask you for
a) The object to animate (your picture)
b) The Animation Type (choose Follow Path)
c) The Path to follow
d) The Type (Absolute or Relative)
e) Speed Control
f) Time (duration for animation)
g) Orientation (Fixed or Aligned)
h) Repeats
g) Animation End
5. With your picture selected, menu option "Edit, Edit Actions" (or Ctrl+E). This should display the "On Show" Actions on the left side of the dialogue, set to follow the path.
6. Single Click the "On Show" action to select it. On the "Programming" tab on the right hand side, double click the "Simultaneous Action Group" to add it to the actions list
7. On the left hand side of the dialogue box, right click on the "Animate <your picture> along path <your path>" entry and select "Cut"
8. As "Simultaneous Action Group" should now be selected, it is simply a matter of right clicking and selecting "Paste". Expand the selection to see the location for the additional actions you are about to add.
9. From the right hand side of the dialogue, use either the "Action, Animation" or "QuickAnim" tabs to add whatever actions you desire.
10. You can then tweak each action you add so that it gives you the required effect.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Dave

Volgar,

If you like the power of Timeline in Opus, then try these things.

First, "play around" with timeline for ANIMATING some basic Graphical Objects. For example, Move Horiz, Rotate, etc.

Second, make sure you "stack up" timeline actions you want to 'overlap'. (I'm pretty sure you are already)

Third. There are some "checkbox options" on different Actions you might use in timelines. Read the Manual or the Helpfiles on those. Two in particular... "Synchronize to end" and (for Transition effects on Show/Hide) "Exclusive - overrides everything...". See attached pic.

With timeline, keep in mind that a User's computer may have background processes going on... so it is possible to see very minor delays. But basic "simultaneous" is achievable.

Good luck.

Dave, it`s worked!!! Many many thanks!

Lar_123, it`s also very much helped me. Thank you!

Another question. Required to appear images in the slideshow out of the frame, like in the attached flash move. No pictures are unable to deploy outside of the frame in the pub.

And can get rid of movements jerkily to more smoothly move images in the slideshow? Maybe need some settings DirectX?

I have a small question and I do not want to open a new topic.

If the frame is above the other frame or page, then clicking on this frame to act to object that are on a different frame behind it.
For example, pressing the button causes the frame to the calendar, but choosing a date receive pressing the buttons under this frame.

How can I prevent this?

And yet. If I make the text input box in the frame, which adds value through variable into the database, it does not work. It would be convenient ...
