G-day all! :D

I have been asked by a mate that used to be a truck driver - ( who now spends most of his life in an office environment ) to create him an internet radio reciever with a timer so when his favourite radio program comes on, he will be reminded about it and then it will connect to the radio station via the (.asx) link so he can listen while he works.

Can Opus do this? - I looked around but couldnt find any information on "internat radio " or radio projects in this site.

Im thinking a major problem would be that once you get the link going, your windows media player would open up. - how would you work around THAT...just for starters?

I'd love to give this a go actually, - anybody done this one :?:

Cheers.

G'day mate!
I never done that but why don't you tell your mate to use realplayer? the new version can do what he is asking and more.
Cheers

Ok, Im just a little "miffed" .....besides the fact, that he would like something "personal" - and that he thought enough of me to believe that I could do something like that....

This is OPUS! - and in saying that... I guess ANYTHING is possible! - how the HECK could you offer a "commercial" player as an answer- and be an Opus user, or even SUGGESTING that? Crikey!

In the movie the 300 - somone said...madness? - this is SPARTA! - ...well THIS-IS-OPUS :!:

I'd rather neck myself if I didnt atleast TRY my best to make my OWN first. ( after all - isnt this WHY were all here? )

As luck would have it, I HAVE made some decient in-roads on the project - Ive got a neat little interface with a digital clock /day/full date, and have managed to find a work around for the Windows media player AND realplayer, as well as stopping the browser popping up.

My issue at the moment is finding a way to stop the connection from firing up INSTANTLY.

Ive tried hiding the browser until I click on a button to allow it to connect - but it connects as soon as I run the project. I think I MIGHT have an answer for that using arrays.

After I figure that out, its just a case of building a timer that will then allow auto connection at the right time.

If anybody has any other ideas - I can tell you now - ( it CAN be done ) and now I just need to "refine" some minor issues.

So, there you have it. - for those of you that ware interested in doing one yourself - let me know or we can possibly co-laborate on a neat little net reciever - even if its freeware , its just to say it can be done.

Cheers ! :D
