It worked fine for me. Sorry not to be able to shed any light on your difficulties.

Hi Al,

Quite possible it's your anti-virus. AVG is great at thinking Opus and IMPs are threats but I believe that others have this problem as well.

Try turning off the AV and adding the Opus directory and *.imp to the excludes.

Suggest you disconnect from internet whilst AV is off or active internet lock if you've got Zone Alarm installed.

Mack

Hey Mack
How the heck are you......

I run Viper antivirus ( sunbelt software ) and its not the download thats the problem........the actual install too 1 hour 2 min and if i right click on the file it locks my comp while my system tries to access its properties . I have never seen this before but you are right it might be seen as a risky file and thats why......strange though .

I dont run any other security suite so i guess we'll chalk it up to Gremlins LOL . After a summer off i am back at the OPUS icon wondering what to creat this year LOL , and the fact that we just got 15 cm of snow today kinda means many days of creating coming up.......

See you in the help forum more often..

Al From Canada G'day EH!

Keeping very busy Al.

It's the install that conflicts with the AV not the download. Linda had the same problem which is posted around here somewhere.

It's also made it onto the email that DW send out because as Paul explained some AVs think that Opus is a virus and given the potential damage that could be cause by an unsavoury IMP - I'm glad it that my AV airs on the side of caution.

Hope that the mad snow hasn't started over their yet?
[edit] might help if I'd have read the whole of your post :-)

Al,

No problems downloading, about 7 minutes, and the install took about 2 minutes. I run McAfee AV. I only got a Microsoft warming about installing unknown software which I ignored. The specs of the XP system is listed below.

Snow!!!! I have a daughter that lives in Carp, northwest of Ottawa.

It's not Firefox -- many of us use it.
Most AV's slow down the Opus install. I turn off any AV while I install Opus, then it takes only a couple of minutes.
It takes a lot longer with most AV's enabled, especially in the last year.
AV's seem to be getting more aggressive.

Paul

Opus: Opus Pro v9.75
OS: Windows 10.?
System: HP xw660 Server 32GB RAM, Toshiba Satellite Laptop
I use Firefox and downloaded the v6.4 update in about 7 minutes over an 8Mb broadband connection. I installed the update over the existing installation on Windows XP without any problem.

Any recommendations for installing on a Win Vista (Home 32bit)? Is it better to uninstall v6.01 and do a fresh install of v6.4?

thx advance.
