Hello Opus friends,

I have a load / save question.
I made an application that loads a .txt file into several varialbles.
line 1 goes to var...
next line goes to var...
etc.

There are 10 places to put a textfile.
What i like to do is to save these 10 places into .txt files to load them all back at once instead of loading them one by one.

What i did was: save the .txt files in a file and that goes great.
Now i need to put them all back so i load the file and place it line by line in the right place.

Now my problem... The place where i need the files show the right name, but these .txt files want show up like i told before.
What am i doing wrong. Who can give me som advice.

Like to hear from one of you,

Marian

Hi Marian,

I am a little confused, so I may get this wrong regarding what I think you are asking and what the obstacles are.

1st -- I assume you are using standard Opus triggers and actions (not doing Opus Scripting... here under "Basic" topics)
2nd -- I am interpreting the project is something like this: there are say 7 questions that make up a 'set'. Each 'set' is stored in 1 .txt file. There are 10 sets, so 10 files. Correct?
3rd -- The problem is that Opus is not finding those 10 .txt files at the point where you need to load the saved data back in. Is that correct?

So some things to try (or perhaps explain more if situation is different).

* If you are finding the problem in Preview mode, try doing a Publish. Maybe Opus will know where the files are. If that works, report back and we can see how to have it work in Preview mode.
* Tell us what OPERATING SYSTEM and OPUS VERSION you are using. Better yet, create a 'profile' and give such information there.
* Use Opus's Resource Manager -- to make sure all the needed 'stuff' can be found.
* Try using Publication level vars (just in case Page vars are getting reset by some navigation or other means)

Please explain a little more. For example, is 'place' a Text Object... Text Input Object... what? Name for what... a variable, a filename??

but these .txt files want show up like i told before

Are you saying Opus cannot find the 10 .txt files? If so, have you tried locating the files in Windows Explorer... see if they are in correct directory?

Hope that helps.
