Hi Dave,

Scripting is not necessary for this project. Create your till interface and then post it and I'll show you which actions you need to add to make it work.

The interface will need:

1. Individual buttons or images for each item.
2. An area for the total cost.
3. An area to display the the name of the item selected.
4. An area to display the list of items purchased.
5. An area for the amount tendered.

Mack

Not a problem Dave.

Zip the file & resources. If it's too big the forum limit won't upload it. Just use a free file host or if can use FTP I send you details of one of our temporary accounts.

BTW - you can create a permanent signature by clicking profile above.

BTW - Opus Pro has been upgraded to 6.4 - DW will send you the link for the latest version if you email sales.

Hi Dave,

What is the difference between the total amount at the top of the blue box and the one at the bottom?

Also, what does this mean?

This page would contain all the items stocked in the shop as variables used in publication. The variables will show the cost of any item selected with a zero against any not.

Hi Mack

The top box show two things

Amount to date and then the change to given after tendering amount is added to the box on final page and finish button clicked. The bottom box will show only the total spent at this point

Second bit refers to final page used to produce receipt. It would contain the variables of all items for sale in the shop, the price for items selected in the previous page/s and a zero against this would show that this item has not been selected

Hope this displays my new signature as was doing that today as well.
Thanks for your input
Dave :D

Hi Dave,

Think I'm going to have to sign up for classes at Treloar either that or my brain hasn't adjusted to daylight saving yet.

It sounds like the top and bottom both show totals unless on the last page.

Call me crazy, but a receipt normally shows the items purchased not an inventory of the entire shop. Anyway, I'll see if Opus actions output correctly to file for print and if it does then you can tweak it to sing and dance.

Hi Mack

You are right about the receipts page but I cannot think of a way just to show the items selected-no doubt you will!!! If it invoves a script don't bother!!
As you have made things for interactive touch displays in museums as I recall, do you have a favourite/recommended model?

Dave

Hi Dave,

I uploaded a quick example of how it can be done using actions. It's only simple but should be fully functional.

Hi Mack

Brilliant!!!
Quick look at actions is interesting compared to way I was doing things :D
Now will play with things and try to add additional pages

I have a question regarding not so much the interface or the touch screen portion of the project - but for me an interesting one none the less.

I might be wrong but am I correct in thinking that there is a way of actually having opus perform the task of triggering something that will actually open the till draw? - I ask because Im very interested in making opus do things that cause change to what I refer to as outer-world- connections like lights, small electric motors, fans - that sort of thing.

I hope this project sheds some light on how a mechanical device can be triggered by opus.

Thanks all. :)

Hi

The Opus part is purely to display on a touch screen. The till tray will just sit on a table.

An interesting thought however

Opus 6.0 added DLL functionality that is used to communicate with 'outer world connections' aka peripherals.

There are several users that are already using Opus for this and some previous postings on the topic.
