I am thinking of replacing my PC with a Mac, which, Apple claim, can happily run Windows and Windows-based apps like Opus. Is this a good idea? Are there Mac users out there who can advise of any pitfalls? I don't want to buy this thing and find my PC-based clients have problems with my Opus pubs.

As long as you use Bootcamp you shouldn't have any issues at all.
If you want to use Windows on top of virtualizing software like Parallels or VMware, there is a small chance you could run into driver problems.
As long as you don't mind the inconvenience of booting into separate OS's , Bootcamp is the safest option for what you want.

I have used Opus on Bootcamp and Parallels without a problem, moving away from the PC was the best move I have ever made

Thanks for the reassurance. I've bought an iMac and it's gorgeous! So glad to be with Mac again
