Has anyone managed to do this - particularly with .png files.
I would like to set different picture content in pages to scroll at different speeds.(only one image per page.)
Can I also arrange the keys (e.g. press <1> .... press <2>.... etc.)
so they remain in the same screen position for user's reference.
Thanks

Maybe a little help for you regarding:

'Yes'. It's easy. Use Opus 'Master Pages'. When you get a chance, read up on it.
Here are the steps:
Start with a new Page.
Create the Buttons you want to give the User (for the consistent placement and appearance)
Now go to Page Properties, and in the lower left of the General tab dialogue Check the box for "make this page a Master Page". And apply/exit.
Notice that over in the workspace Organizer tree, the icon for that page is different (as a Master Page).
* * *save your work periodically (or save-as)
Now for other pages you have with content, simply go to each one's Page Properties dialogue and in the same manner, Check the box "use a Master Page" -- and select which MP to use (you can set up multiple MPs, and you can even 'nest' MPs -- but for now start with basic method).

Test your content pages with the new MP.

Of course you can do this. It's Opus after all!!
The 'how to do it' depends on what you want to achieve, and who OR what you want to determine that variable speed.

So you have to explain more.

ps Please create a signature in your Profile -- to show system info and sftw versions etc.

Thanks for the advice.
I've added details to my profile as requested.

I run various bands and I'm experimenting with
using laptops instead of paper music.

At the moment I split the music at, say, a couple of bars rest.
The musician taps the space bar and the next page appears.
I found that some lines of the staff disappeared if I made the
score too small. (I'm trying .png files now)

The idea is to start with the score at the top.
When ready, the musician taps ( say the space bar again)
and the music starts to scroll up.

I would need to set the speed of the scroll for each piece
as, obviously, some music is faster/slower.

You can see the Big Band here playing one of my compositions:

Kind regards

Kingell,

I pondered ways to accomplish and came across two obstacles. I could not figure out how to do it using Opus standard actions (I lack experience), and I thought it would be to too long-winded to explain in words what I might try. So I just mocked up a demo.

And I 'cheated' -- by using scripting.

Attached is a download zip. Don't be afraid to play with editing the script.
If this is close to what you wanted, ask and maybe someone here can help you build this same or better action with standard actions (ie. "Basic" topic).

Page 1 in the Pub has some explanation to get you started. I did include a few Comment lines in the Script, so I expect you can at least follow the logic.

Cheers,
Larry

p.s. the sample music was chosen as a matter of convenience, and the song title carries no hidden intention or message. :o

Nope
I'm not familiar with scripting but I think this is an error:
Script Console appears :?
currscroll.vpos is 33.9286
when I press the spacebar.
Regards

when I press the spacebar.

It is operating as designed.
What you are seeing is the output to a Debug Pane. This will be useful for you to verify what is happening... in this case, scrolling 33% of the way down. That pane can be resized, moved aside.

To disable this 'debug', double-click on the Script_1 object in the organizer.
Go down to Line 27. And add two slashes so it reads as follows:
Code:
//Debug.trace( "currscroll.vpos is  " + currscroll.vpos +" \n")
Simply close that script window when done editing.

with that 'out of the way', what you should see is the sheet music, and it will scroll each time the spacebar is pressed. (actually, the Frame is scrolling)

Aha!

Not quite what I'm looking for.

I want the page to scroll up gradually not in jumps.

So
Score shows
Musician starts to play.
Taps space bar
Music scrolls slowly up the page at my predetermined speed.

Interesting :?
The downloads don't show on my Windows 7 machine. :(
Here's a full music page for you to try below.
I can get the thing to scroll using the animation wizard
but I can't extend the music off the page so it scrolls up.
Regards

K,

I'm off to other things right now, and will have a look and download your zips later.

Sure, we can do 'gradual'.
However I am really not clear of how that sequence would 'play out' (pun deliberate). I think I misunderstood your OP saying you would have multiple .png files... which I took each to be a scanned page of sheet-music.

So, your "Aintmis trombone.zip" is one long RUNNING page?? Vertical scroll?
That might be even easier...
...however, still I have some unknowns (such as: does the musician need the possibility to pause and restart the scrolling? reverse direction at all? navigate to another page before scrolling is complete?? ). So think these details through, post info, and we'll take care of them.

Hi

Thanks very much for your help and interest. It is much appreciated.

I realise you are probably quite busy and your kindness is acknowledged.

Musical parts vary in size from March Card used by marching bands to full scores of all the parts used by conductors.

The music I play in the bands tends to last about three to five minutes.

Each musician has a different part and they vary in length and number of pages.

The trombone part in the zip file is one A4 page long, other parts could be over two or three pages. All the music is presently in A4 format.

It would be good to have those consisting of more than one page to scroll consecutively. I could arrange a file containing all the pages as one image. The music should scroll vertically with ability for the speed to be set for each page to suit the speed of the piece - the musicians do not need to control this.

The needs of the musician are quite simple really. Once the music starts it is most unlikely that there would be a need to pause or restart the scrolling. There would be no need for reverse direction ever and navigation to another page would be when the music was completed by the band.

In organising the programme for performance I would arrange for Opus to move to the next page when finished in readiness for the next number.

I would also arrange a key press to go to the music library if a request were encountered from the audience.

I'm currently exploring another way as well creating Flash files in a video editor.

By the way, the mp3 files are not necessary for the program. I included them for my musicians' comments on suitability.

Best wishes and kind regards

Regards
