I'm finding some problems with MIDI files.

1. I have several MIDI files in the program.
When I try to sync to end of file the first file I entered appears
in the program no matter what file I've added subsequently.
The correct file plays but I can't get the title to change. :x

2. Try as I might I lose about 1/2 sec from the end of some files. I've extended the files for a few bars and added insignificant silent notes
and commands but nope! It still stops early.

Could be a Windows 7 problem?

I'm surprised no one has answered for you as yet.

I do not have much experience with sound files and such. The only thing I can offer is that I recently read an old post on the forum that outlined the procedure for using "synch to end of file" correctly. It seemed to me that there was a trick to setting it up... elsewhere people say "it's not intuitive"
viewtopic.php?t=466

Otherwise you might try a couple searches:
synch end
synchronise to end

Hi Larry

Thanks for the support. I've cured the length problem by adding a few bars of non playing notes (minimum velocity) and Midi commands.

I've got one "busy" Midi file which skips beats.

I'm particularly frustrated by the fact that the name doesn't change
with each new chapter.

So e.g. in chapter 1 I play Mide file 1 and sync to the end of Midi file 1;
in chapter 2 I play midi file 2 but it only lets me sync to the end of Midi file 1 which by now has finished and try as I might I can't get it to change the name.

Ho Hum - could be a Windows 7 problem. I've lost the use of two DVD programs since I upgraded. They won't burn DVDs but Media Player will.

I like your idea of setting up arrays but I haven't used this with this programming system. I find a problem with timing as you perceived on different laptops - probably to do with speed of processor, memory etc.

Is there a book I can buy which helps with programming? I've got the Opus stuff.

Kind regards
Mike

1 networked printer, a dvd writer, a webcam, a graphics card and heap of software - all not running under W7. Been an interesting and expensive upgrade. Perhaps Mr Brown and MS are in cahoots to keep the IT industry out of the recession.

As for the midi, something is wrong - I've tested using 6.4 / XP and 7 / 7 and both miss the last few seconds of the samples of files I played regardless of the action type used to trigger.

I did however set-up sync to end using actions across pages and this seemed okay moving to the next page as the midi file for that page ended (several seconds early though!).

Hi Mack

I've given up on networking with Windows 7. I have several computers on Windows XP which link without a problem and use the same two printers.

Windows 7 won't talk to them.

I transfer files using the RUN comand and network address:
run>\\192.168.etc

Did you try two midi files in different chapters with different names?
I just extend my midi files with some silent rubbish and it works.
Microsoft again?? But works OK in Media Player. :(

Regards
Mike

With the advent of virtual machines, multi-monitors and multi-core cpus my need for network systems is pretty much gone. Add wi-fi routers and NAS and even with today's fickle firewalls it safe and easy to share files and internet.

As for the damn printer, I brought a rather expensive HP at the time and the network never worked under XP. About 1 8months ago it was updated and worked brilliantly until W7 came along. Thankfully, my router has the ability to attached USB devices and map the ports to a machine so that W7 thinks it's a local printer - allowing any computer on CAT or Wireless to remote print. Some technology is just worth it's weight in gold.

I tried three differently named midi files on different pages. Set the file to play automatically on-show trigger and added a sync to end on each page to go-to-next page for that midi.

Each page only displayed the midi file on that page in the sync to end box BUT although I selected the file it didn't name it in the action list in the right hand-side. I've seen this issue before. Opus still seemed to know that it was using that midi file or at least it changed pages at the end of playing.

If you can post an example, I'll run it here later today.

Mack

BTW How's the 9600 fairing under W7? I had to replace an 8600 because of the WDDM issue of conflicting DVI / DSUB on the same card.

Hi Mack

Thanks for the offer but the file is now ginormous. 8)

It's a music programme I'm developing for a band to use
instead of taking music folders. See scrolling graphics in this forum.

I'll be using laptops and --- they all work at different speeds
so I'll have to match each instrument to each laptop to each Opus prog.

My graphics card is working fine - I do commercial video editing
with two screens - 1 Dell and 1 HP using DVI connections.

BTW !!!!! Windows 7 - spits in waste basket - won't do it's auto
update now with one of these damned error codes.

The help doesn't work either. Think I'll backtrack to Vista - didn't like
that either
Regards
Mike
