Hi all. - I have a question regarding blue tooth and opus. ( version 6.0 running on Win XP Pro service pack 3 ).....

I have crated a nice neat little chat program that runs quite well when used over a local network using a standard T3 connection. - what I'm after is a way to " for the use of a better word " ( transmit ) between 2 laptops using blue tooth wireless instead of the standard cable and router.

any ideas ?

Regards..

Rick. :?

I doubt that BT can be configured for peer to peer network... someone has to be master (I think).

Secondly, why do it this way for such a limited range... 10-20 meters? Why not just have them grab a cup of coffee together and really 'chat'?

Hi lar,

I agree with your statement...

I'm guessing I should explain myself further in order to have the question make more sense.

What this project was designed to do: Provide a "secure" way to use wifi in a chat environment, where the cup of coffee and chat isnt possible. - The security aspect of the project has been taken solved.

I took your advice on-board, and ended up evolving the project to a new level.

the system now operates using 2 wireless modems ( one in each car ) and a router - your right regarding the fact that one end has to be the " master " as one of the cars also has the wireless router on-board.

The system can provide secure communication ( voice, video, file sharing, and text chat ) using 3 levels of security at a range of just over 300 meters between 2 vehicles on the move. ( obviously the chat component would be done whilst stationary, OR could be done by a passanger whilst driving ).

It must be remembered though, that the " text chat component " is the ONLY Opus portion of the project, The rest is 3rd party open-source freeware.

In my quest for an answer, I neglected to give out the right amount of information - and from my original post, you were quite right.

Cheers. :)
