 Post subject: ILM4 password help
PostPosted: February 8th, 2005, 7:01 pm
I'm probably one of the few people left that use ILM4, but I need help. I want to password protect a single page in my pub, but the instructions in the manual are not very straightforward.
Am brand new to Variables and Conditions. Can someone please tell me step-by-step how to do this? In simple terms?

I not sure if you can password protect a single page. Find attached a sample imp with a password protected chapter. I suggest you put the page in a separate Chapter and protect it in that way.
From the Illuminatus 4.51 menu select:
Publication > Publication Properties > Password

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

There are several ways to use Passwords to show ANYTHING in OPUS.

Page Example: Create a new, blank Page. Insert a Text Input object. Create the necessary Action code to check for a correct Password. Go to the Next Page if correct.

You could do the same thing using just one Page: Put everything on the Page you want into a Frame. Make the Frame Initially Hidden. Again, use the Text Input object idea. Include it in a Frame along with Instructions. If the Password is correct, Hide the Frame with Text Input, etc., and Show the Frame with the correct Page info.

You could also do this using MultiFrames. Put your Text Input and Action codes in the default, first Frame, then have your secured Objects in the next Frame.

Any object on a Page can be set to Hidden, and only viewable after you enter a Password.

Hope this helps.

Thanx Leo & demofred. Your suggestions worked fine. The example I downloaded was a great help. I was able to password protect the chapter as you suggested.
I'm now looking into upgrading to Opus.
