Hi there !

Does anyone now a good tutorial about the new layout feature of Opus ? I canĀ“t get behind the magic of that thing ! And the online help is not that good in this case.

Or can someone explain me the logic behind this ? How can I define the different frame names ? Can this be copared to frames in HTML ?

Thanks !

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The Layout features allows you to split your publication into panels, with different content shown in each frame. You can set the dimensions of these frames to absolute, relative or percentage values, so this feature is very similar to frames in HTML.

For example, if you open Publication > Publication Properties > Layout and select the Split Horizontal layout, this will split your publication into two frames.

To control which pages appear in which frame, simply open the Chapter Properties (Edit > Chapter Properties, select the Window tab and enable the Display in Publication Panel option. You can now select the frame in which all pages in the current chapter should be shown using the drop-down list. The Main Publication Window is the frame indicated by the letter M in the Layout dialog and all other frames are numbered accordingly.

Once Chapter 1 has been set to the Main Publication Window (the bottom-most frame in this layout), simply create a new chapter (File > New > Chapter) and a new page (File > New > Page), then open the properties of this new chapter, select the Window tab and set it to display in Panel 1 (the top-most frame).

I hope this helps. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

Kind regards,
